AI-ASSISTED LEGAL SERVICES

I am a lawyer in Munich (Rechtsanwalt and Solicitor) and use AI tools for clearly defined parts of the work. This saves time, and I pass the saving on through lower fees and fixed prices for standard work such as NDAs. The legal judgement remains mine: every document is reviewed by me personally before it reaches you.

WHERE I USE IT

  • First drafts of standard documents
  • Comparing a counterparty's mark-up against my positions
  • Consistency checks across a set of documents

MY REVIEW

  • Every document and every piece of advice is reviewed by me personally before it is sent
  • Full professional responsibility, as for any other work
  • Negotiation and advice on your specific situation

CONFIDENTIALITY

  • Services used only on terms that meet § 43e BRAO (German Federal Lawyers' Act) and the GDPR, including a data processing agreement
  • Client data is not used to train the providers' models
  • AI model processing takes place in the EU (Frankfurt)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is a lawyer who uses AI less expensive?
For work with a recurring structure, in most cases yes. NDAs, standard ancillary documents and the review of mark-ups take noticeably less time with AI tools, and I reflect this in fixed fees and lower overall cost. In complex negotiations the saving is smaller, because most of the time goes into judgement and discussion.

Who checks the results?
I do. AI tools prepare and check; they do not advise. Nothing leaves my office without my review, and I am responsible for the result in the same way as for any other work.

Is the use of AI compatible with professional secrecy?
Yes, provided the provider is engaged on terms that meet § 43e BRAO and the GDPR. I use AI services only on such terms. Details are in the Privacy Notice.

Which matters is this approach suited to?
Mainly finance and transaction documentation for banks, funds, corporates and start-ups: NDAs, term sheets, facility and security documents, and corporate documents. An overview of fee models is on the Pricing page.

Can I prepare an AI-assisted draft or review myself and have you check it?
You can, but in most cases it does not save time or cost, and it often adds to both. Checking a document I did not prepare means reviewing it clause by clause from the start: I cannot see which instructions, facts and sources it was based on, so I cannot rely on any part of it. AI-generated text also tends to read smoothly, which makes omissions – a missing carve-out, a definition that does not fit the deal – harder to spot, not easier. My own tools are set up with the positions, fallback wording and market practice I have built up over many years of finance work. That is where the efficiency comes from, and a generic draft does not start from that point. Finally, I take full professional responsibility for what I send, and I can only do so for work whose basis I know.

The more efficient route is to send me the counterparty draft and a short note of your commercial points (for NDAs, the questionnaire). If you have already prepared a draft, I am happy to use it as a record of your commercial requirements.

Can I ask you not to use AI on my matter?
Yes. Where a matter or your internal policy calls for it, I work without AI tools or only with anonymised content. Please let me know at the start of the matter.
